Haven't Got A Name
02:51

Have we
got it right
or have not
held it to the light
theories
all aside
have we seen
are we caged and freed
(it’s not enough)
Wither wills or wither won’ts
(never enough)
I’ll be the one to turn the boat
I can spy the land
shall we
have it now
shall we all
burn off all our doubts
the irony
isn’t lost
on me it’s
it’s just
turned to steel
(we’re out of time)
carried along by force of will alone
(plenty of time)
king of the hill
got all those powers (it’s time to)
to name those things that haven’t got a name
Isn’t that why we came?

Steady Joy
04:08
|
|||
It’s a wondrous thing
that our selves changing
will help each other grow
today together for tomorrow
the risky bet’s been made
on far future escapades
how to keep the sparks from fade
here’s one of a thousand ways
Sometimes you’ll come home from the day
ordinary you, ordinary me
A welcoming smile will say
your “ordinary me” is just fine.
we marched down the street
song dance life we see
canoed the lake, a midnight sea
the world’s problems? now a memory
back to lands of mayfly air
coffee chats and breakfast chairs
and in the sky a moon to see
friends as good as these
from this love a blueberry
Against the tougher odds
Come to me say magnetic swirling dreams
Around you, within you, and between we
And if you plan to see every fast & furious movie
you better buckle up you know
there’s 500 more to go
YES!
But I’m just pointing out
what you’ve already found.
a steady joy, a constancy
to return the loving you receive.

A Way Down
03:09
|
|||
Enough
Enough to forget the rest
Too much
Action and consequence
Meanwhile
We'll be found out there
With those poor souls
Who haven’t found
Their way down
Waters
Muddied by all concerned
Fires
Burning ‘til backs are turned
With winds blown in
All directions,
Senses come to
Show us all
The way now
And how
How could I dream of less?
From now
Resilient selflessness
And where would I be
Without you
Here to show me
I’ve already found
My way down

A Major Jerk
01:47

I put the brightest lights on my automobile
So I can see the people as they’re crashing into me
From temporary blindness so I can blind the out of my way
I just got to, I just got to have my way
Cuz life’s a competition
And I always have to win
I put laser pointers on the movie screens
I dare you to come find me
I don’t flush the public toilet
And I damn sure don’t wash my hands
Can’t seem to find out how to use a trash can
Hm-hm-hm-hm-hm
What was it that you said
Wait it doesn’t f-ing matter what you said
I don’t like the way you look
And I don’t like what you believe
Remind me of you stupid name again
I have all that I need but that is nowhere near enough
I spit on bums who ask me for a dime
I curse at my kids all the goddamn time
Cuz life’s a competition
And I always have to win
I put laser pointers on the movie screens
I dare you to come find me
I don’t flush the public toilet
And I damn sure don’t wash my hands
Can’t seem to find out how to use a trash can

Monday

I called up my friend again
to see if they'd time to spend
texted me back and said
“Hope I can see you next year”
I come home each night to give
a few hours through the sieve
the few minutes I can live
the way I intend
being myself ain’t for free
taking each breath costs a fee
why’s it so hard just to see
just how to make it right
It came to me in a dream
and I forgot easily
something I had to see
and show you
but oh that’s my time
the words that you said to me
perhaps weren't meant to mean
the things that I chose to see
was it love
or something else in your eyes
and here again I find
a wolf at the door
in a suit and a tie
staring me down
with a bill in its hand
whenever I close my eyes
I got out of bed again
to feed the great algorithm
to make myself have a sense
that I am doing something good with my life
and hope at the end of day
you’ll hear what I have to play
why’s it so hard
to give yourself away
